Gurdwara Shisganj Sahib – Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi
Situated in the Chandi Chowk area of Old Delhi, Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib is one of the most visited Gurdwaras in Delhi. Built in 1783 by Baghel Singh (Military General in Punjab Cantonment), it is the martyrdom site of the ninth Sikh Guru- Guru Tegh Bahadur. The Sikh Guru, refusing to convert himself to Islam, was executed on 11 November 1675 on the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Because of which this Gurdwara was built by Baghel Singh to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Gurdwara Sheeshganj Sahib is located in Chandni Chowk, Delhi.

This Gurdwara is related to the eighth Guru Sri Harkishan and the two wives of Guru Gobind Singh – Mata Sundari and Mata Sahib Kaur. Bala Sahib had the honor of becoming a Guru at the age of 5 as the successor of his father Guru Har Rai Ji. Gurdwara Shri Rakabganj Bo is the place where Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh Ji was cremated. It is said that after killing Guru Tegh Bahadur, Aurangzeb refused to give his body. Then Guru Tej Bahadur’s disciple Lakha Shah Vanzara took away his body in the dark and his last rites were performed at this place. Even today people of Sikh religion and followers of Guru Tej Bahadur ji come here to pay tribute to him.
