Vaccination is necessary
Experts believe that vaccination will play an important role in dealing with the third wave. The faster the population gets vaccinated, the more lives can be saved. According to official figures, around 17 crore people have been vaccinated in the country right now. There are very few people between the ages of 18-44 who have had a vaccination. Currently, about 11 percent of the population in India has received at least one vaccine dose.

Virus changing form
At present, most people in North India are infected with the British variant of the virus. At the same time, the ‘double mutant’ type of virus is wreaking havoc in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka. The double mutant is also known as B.1.617. This information was given by Sujit Singh, director of National Center for Disease Control (ACDC). However, Singh also said that the proportion of people infected in the country with the B1.1.7 type (British type) of SARS Cove-2 virus has decreased by 50 per cent in the last one month. The South African type of virus was mainly affected in Telangana and Delhi. It is known as B.1.315. The Brazilian type is found only in Maharashtra and its proportion is negligible.
