The businessman felt that his son-in-law’s caller was Vivek. He confidently copied the OTP and WhatsApp. The businessman got some understanding, before that he got a message of withdrawal of 80 thousand rupees from 3 transactions. When the businessman called the son-in-law, the son-in-law’s reply was that he had neither made a call, nor sent an OTP. He felt cheated and turned to the cyber police.
According to cyber crime expert Abhishek Mitra and doctor Prashant Mali, like online Facebook account fraud these days, WhatsApp is also being used for cheating. Just as Facebook’s account was hacked and cybercrime was done, in the same way, by being close or relative, WhatsApp numbers are being cheated online. Therefore, be careful if a WhatsApp call comes from someone close to you, because not every caller will be close.

If you receive WhatsApp calls as relative or close, then the first one will say sorry. Then he will send you OTP after getting into things, which he will ask for OTP by pretending to be forwarded by mistake. Transaction will be done from your account as soon as you tell him OTP. After this, he will either blackmail you on the basis of personal data or play online fraud games. Therefore, when such a call comes, do not receive it in haste, because you can be a victim of cybercrime as soon as you receive the call.

Do not share OTP with anyone to avoid such fraud. Also, to avoid getting caught in any such mess, turn on the WhatsApp to Factor authentication option. This will keep your WhatsApp number secure and cyber hackers will not be able to use your WhatsApp number in any other electronic devices. Save relatives’ names and their numbers in mobile along with their DP. SP Balasing Rajput of Cyber Police of Maharashtra says that do not give OTP or important information to anyone and turn on the Two Factor Authentication option in your WhatsApp.
