The picture of Jawaharlal Nehru is missing in the first digital poster released to commemorate India’s 75th Independence Day. This has given an opportunity to all the opposition parties including the Congress to attack the central government. The main opposition party of the country is very unhappy with this. All its leaders have simultaneously attacked the government. Everyone has also strongly condemned the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR). India’s 75th Independence Day is being celebrated as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
Actually, ICHR has released a poster regarding the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. Controversy has started for not putting Nehru’s picture in it. The opposition parties have criticized the government for this. It has been termed ‘frivolous and lewd’.
Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday slammed the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) for not including the picture of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the first digital poster released to commemorate India’s 75th Independence Day. Said that the explanation given on this is ridiculous.
The former Union Minister accused the ICHR member secretary of succumbing to hatred and prejudice. asked him whether he would skip Henry Ford while celebrating the birth of the motor car or forget the Wright brothers while celebrating the birth of aviation. The motor car was invented by Ford. The Wright brothers were credited with building and flying the world’s first aircraft.
“The ICHR Member Secretary’s explanation for not putting the picture of Jawaharlal Nehru in the first digital poster to celebrate the 75th Independence Day is ridiculous,” he tweeted. He also said, “After succumbing to hatred and prejudice, it would be better for the member secretary to keep his mouth shut.”
Chidambaram tweeted one after the other and said, ‘If he was celebrating the invention of the motor car, would he have removed Henry Ford? If he were celebrating the birth of aviation, would he have left the Wright brothers? Had he been celebrating Indian science, would he have removed CV Raman?’
What has been done?
ICHR is a cultural body under the Ministry of Education. He has given a clarification regarding the allegations of intentionally deleting the picture of the country’s first PM. He has said that many more posters are to be published in the sequel about the Amrit festival of Azadi. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru will be seen in it.
How did the commotion start?
The poster was released by ICHR on Saturday on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi. It has photographs of Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Veer Savarkar, Bhagat Singh, Madan Mohan Malviya and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. However, the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has not found a place in it. Many people, including the Congress, have a lot to say about this.
Rahul Gandhi reacted immediately
Soon after the release of this poster, the reaction of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi came in this matter. Sharing many pictures related to Nehru’s life on Facebook, he had said, ‘How will you remove the beloved Pandit Nehru from the hearts of the people?’
Tharoor wrote – Embarrassing poster
Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted that Jawaharlal Nehru was a vocal voice in India’s independence. One cannot even imagine celebrating freedom except them. It will not only be very ‘cheap’, but will also be a waste of history. ICHR has once again embarrassed itself. It’s getting used to him!
Other leaders also attacked
National Spokesperson of Congress Dr. Shama Mohammed said that skipping the mention of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru from the Amrit Festival of Independence indicates a greater fear. It shows how much fear and threat PM Modi and the BJP government are facing from the unique legacy of Nehru. Such insecurity does not suit the PM!
