Thakur said that when you do not have logic and facts to speak, then papers were torn in the house and danced on the table. Thakur took a dig that even papers can be torn on the streets, but the House is only for discussion. He was referring to the opposition disrupting the House on various issues. <\/p>\n
Thakur said this on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the 82nd All India Presiding Officers’ Conference held in Shimla on Thursday. At the same time, he also talked about improving the quality of discussions and debates in the House. <\/p>\n
On this occasion, he also suggested to organize quality debates on 75 important issues related to national interest and people in the Parliament and Legislatures of the country in the 75th year of independence. At the same time, he also gave some other important suggestions for the legislature. He talked about celebrating Legislature or Parliamentary Week on the lines of Canada, New Zealand and UK. Where youth and students should be called and made acquainted with the legislative tradition and democratic rules. <\/p>\n
On this occasion, he suggested to promote research and innovation in the legislature and to engage the youth and university students of the country in this work and make them work as interns with public representatives. Thakur said that this would make our young generation aware of the importance and importance of democratic values. <\/p>\n
Referring to his first address inside Parliament as an MP, he said how the then Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had given him an opportunity to speak openly, which boosted his morale. Thakur asked all the presiding officers present there that they should also give ample opportunity to the elected representatives in their House for the first time. <\/p>\n
On the elixir of independence, he also talked about presenting the historical decisions, rules and speeches in the country’s legislature in the form of a book or video and presenting it on the media and social media. He said that this would give information and inspiration to the new public representatives as well as the youth.<\/p>\n
