YSR Congress MP gets bail from Supreme Court in treason case

Supreme Court YSR Congress leader and MP K.K. R. K. Raju was granted bail in the sedition case. A bench of Supreme Court Justice Vineet Saran and Justice BR Gavai said that prima facie we are of the opinion that Raju was not treated properly in police custody.

Arrested for treason
YSR Congress Party MP K.K. RK The order was passed by the Supreme Court to conduct Raju a medical test at Army Hospital Secunderabad. On the medical ground, Raju has sought bail from the Supreme Court. The CID branch of Andhra Pradesh police arrested Raju on charges of treason. After not getting relief from the High Court, Raju approached the Supreme Court.

Court granted bail conditionally
The Supreme Court said that there is no need to interrogate the accused in the charge against Raju. After looking at the plea in this case and after looking at the health condition of the petitioner, it is a fit case in which the petitioner should be granted bail. The petitioners have also previously undergone heart surgery. The Supreme Court said that after being released on bail, Raju would cooperate in the investigation and whenever the investigating officer called, he would appear before him. In print and electronic media, he will not give any interview related to this case.

Bail granted on medical grounds
The court said that Raju will present a bail amount of one lakh rupees and two sureties. The court will have to appear before the trial court within 10 days and at the same time the court said that he will not interfere in the investigation during the bail nor will he try to influence the witnesses. Earlier, Raju’s medical report was presented in the Supreme Court stating that he has an injury to his toe and other injuries too. His lawyer Mukul Rohatgi said that this means that the allegations of torture are being proved. If it can happen to any sitting MP then it can happen to any common man. In such a situation, Raju should be granted bail immediately.

Raju underwent open heart surgery last year
Significantly, the Andhra Pradesh High Court refused to grant bail in the sedition case, after which this case has come before the Supreme Court. The May 15 order of the High Court was challenged in the Supreme Court. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appeared on behalf of Raju in the Supreme Court and said that interim bail should be granted. Medical examination of their client should be done by an independent and private hospital. Raju has undergone open heart surgery last year. That is why the magistrate ordered his medical checkup. It was also argued that Raju never took any provocative and provocative action so that a case of treason could be registered.
