Dalit politics has also witnessed many changes during the last few years. Many leading faces came forward. Chandrashekhar Azad made his mark in Hindi speaking states through ‘Bhim Army’. He has also formed the Azad Samaj Party. Out of the five states where assembly elections are to be held within the next six months, three states – UP, Punjab and Uttarakhand – are such in which Dalit voters prove to be decisive.

To know what is the trend of Dalit voters and what is the role of Azad Samaj Party in these elections, visit NBT. National Political Editor Nadeem talked about Chandrashekhar Azad From. Here are the highlights of the conversation:

BSP gave up theory, ability with money and familyism.

  1. Assembly elections are to be held in five states, in whose side will you be seen standing in these states at the time of elections?
We are not going to stand in anyone’s court. Azad Samaj Party will field its candidates in all the five states. Yes, I have been a disciple of Kanshi Ram ji, even today his principles are my role model. He used to say – the bigger the number, the more his participation. On the basis of this principle, alliances can be formed with like-minded parties if there is any scope.
  2. You met Owaisi recently, it is said that he is in touch with you about the Congress and now the news is also coming that Akhilesh Yadav wants to take you along, with whom would you like to go?
The meeting I had with Owaisi sahib was not a table talk. He had come to participate in a TV program and I was also invited to that program. This type of meeting happens with all the leaders. On the issue of alliance, I have already said, if there is any scope for an alliance of like-minded parties with a common minimum program, within the vision with which I am fighting the battle of the deprived section of the society, then an alliance can be formed. Any party can be there. No name has been decided yet.
  3. Is there any scope for alliance with BJP?
No, because the ideology of BJP does not match ours. She spoofs in the name of nationalism. She does not do politics of basic issues. I had just gone to UP, there in the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers, 20 thousand posts which belonged to backward class and SC category, they have been deceived by the BJP government there.
  4. But a new trend has been seen from the 2014 elections that a large section of the Scheduled Castes is voting for the BJP. This is considered to be one of the reasons for the weakening of the BSP. What do you see as the reason for this change?
BJP specializes in propaganda politics. He was successful in establishing through his false system that Hindus are in danger in the country, if he does not unite then Muslims will be captured. When the majority society was swept away by the storm of religion, Dalits were also swept away in it, although there were more non-Jatavs in it. The lapse here was that the cadre base parties which did politics on the ideas of Ambedkar ji, Kanshi Ram ji themselves started doing politics on the agenda of BJP.
  5. Will it be easy for you to bring with you the part of the Scheduled Castes who have started voting for BJP?
The one who went to BJP with the wind has started returning or think that he has returned. He understood that what he got in seven years, he had only been beaten.
  6. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the parties with the largest mass base of UP, SP-BSP, both of them also formed an alliance, but did not get success?
No doubt it was a very influential alliance. I also had some role in getting it done, but it could not give the result. The reason for this, as far as I have understood, is that there was an alliance between the leaders of both the parties, but the workers and their voters could not. The efforts that should have been made for this were not done by the leaders of both the parties.
  7. You expressed your desire to work with Mayawati ji many times, but she was not ready to take your side, what is the reason you see?
The reason must be something or the other, but only sister can tell that. As far as I am concerned, she was my honor, is and will remain so. I have worked under his leadership.
  8. Is the mobilization of Dalit society possible by minus Mayawati?
I have never said that I am minus Mayawati or that I will not be in the side she will be in. One should not misunderstand that he can do plus, minus. Leaders do not make the society but the society makes the leaders. Whoever the society wants, will make the leader.
  9. What is your political goal?
Political power has to be given to the people of the deprived society. The power should be to such an extent that he can make laws.
Chandrashekhar
